<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting diode irradiating white output light using a fluorescent phosphorescence material having high luminance efficiency and good optical output stability, and to provide its light emitting method. <P>SOLUTION: The device comprises a light source (102) irradiating a first light having a first peak wavelength in a visible wavelength range, and wavelength transition regions (116; 210A, 216B; 216C) coupled optically with the light source and receiving the first light. The wavelength transition region contains a group IIB element selenide based fluorescence material (118) having characteristics for converting at least a part of the first light into a second light having a second peak wavelength and the second light can be employed as a component of the output light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
