Disclosed is an ink composition comprising a phthalocyanine-type dye represented by the formula (1) or a salt thereof. The ink composition can be used for the ink-jet printing of plain paper to provide a printed matter having extremely excellent water resistance. (1) wherein the rings A-D independently represent a benzene ring or a pyridine ring; M represents a metal atom or the like; X represents a carbonyl group or the like; Y represents a hydrogen atom, a nitro group, a hydroxy group, a sulfo group, a carboxyl group, an amino group, an alkoxy, alkylthio or alkylsulfonyl group which may be substituted, an aryloxy, arylthio, arylsulfonyl, heteroaryloxy, heteroarylthio, heteroarylsulfonyl or amino group which may be substituted, or the like; and L represents a number of 2 to 8.
