A video conference method and a device of a portable terminal are provided to select and reproduce a speaker who is uttering in a video conference, thereby making users who are not talking focus on a speech of the speaker. A wireless communication unit(110) receives video signals having voice and image signals of plural users. A controller(170) selects a video signal of the current speaker based on the received video signals. The controller decodes all frames of an image signal of the selected video signal, and selectively decodes other image signals. A display unit(140) reproduces the image signal. The controller selects a video signal having the highest volume of a voice signal among the video signals, as a video signal of the current speaker.
