This transparent screen (10) has a substrate (20) through which light can pass, and a plurality of dots (22) provided on the substrate. The dots are provided with at least one phosphor-containing portion in which emission light is generated in response to an incident excitation light, and at least one wavelength-selective reflection portion which is provided on the opposite side from the incident side with respect to the phosphor-containing portion and has an outer surface of which at least a portion is curved. The wavelength-selective reflection portion reflects the excitation light that enters as light and/or the light emitted from the phosphor. The wavelength-selective reflection portion comprises a liquid crystal material having a cholesteric structure and is formed such that the liquid crystal orientation of the liquid crystal material having a cholesteric structure is parallel to the outer surface, and the cholesteric structure imparts a striped pattern of light portions and dark portions in a cross-sectional view observed by a scanning electron microscope. |
