PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spiral membrane element which is capable of maintaining the reliability of a sealing part and the yield at production while enhancing the effective membrane area, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof. SOLUTION: The spiral membrane element is provided with a spirally wound cylindrical winding body R which keeps the periphery of a porous central tube 5 overlaid with a separation membrane 1, a supply side flow pass member 2 and a penetration side flow pass member 3, and a sealing part to prevent the mixing of the supply side fluid material and the penetration fluid material. The separation membrane 1 opposite to the element via the penetration flow pass member 3 has both end sealing parts 11 of both side of the axis direction.
