Identities and Permissions

Techniques for identity management for permissions are described. According to various embodiments, a user establishes a communication relationship with another user, referred to herein as a “contact.” According to various embodiments, the contact is associated with multiple identities. Accordingly, embodiments discussed herein enable a primary identity to be specified such that permissions for the primary identity are enforced for interactions with the contact. Further, techniques discussed herein enable a primary identity to be updated based on a change in identity state of a contact.

at least one processor; and one or more computer-readable storage media including instructions stored thereon that, responsive to execution by the at least one processor, cause the system perform operations including:
receiving an indication that a communication relationship is established between a user and a contact of the user;resolving a set of multiple identities for the contact to specify a primary identity and one or more secondary identities for the contact;utilizing the primary identity to identify a permission set linked to the primary identity and that specifies one or more parameters for the communication relationship; andcausing the permission set to be enforced for one or more communication interactions between the user and the contact.
