PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method capable of updating the current time information into time information indicating the correct time, based on the time information of a plurality of broadcast stations extracted from a plurality of digital broadcast signals, even if there is a digital broadcast signal containing the broadcast station time information indicating an incorrect time.SOLUTION: A digital broadcast receiver 1 includes an information extraction unit 12 for extracting the time information of a plurality of broadcast stations from a plurality of digital broadcast signals, a time counting unit 16 for generating the time counting unit current time, i,e., the time on the time axis of the device, a time relevant information acquisition unit 13 for acquiring the time relevant information including the broadcast station identification information and the broadcast station time information and the time information acquisition time, for each of the plurality of broadcast stations, and a reference current time calculation unit 14 for calculating the reference current time, i.e., the time of the time counting unit current time immediately after update, based on the time relevant information for each of the plurality of broadcast stations, acquired in the time relevant information acquisition unit 13.
