Shunting appliance with high availability

The appliance has rail-bound running gear, its own drive, and a traction/push device. The vehicle is divided into two parts, each of which has all required components for control, energy storage resp. generation, and further auxiliary devices for traction. Each vehicle part can travel in either direction. To achieve the required traction performance, the parts are coupled to form one unit, control systems are linked, and the unit functions as one integral vehicle. It has at least one operator cab, giving unimpaired vision in all directions as required for shunting.
