A model casting alloy for dental castings, comprises: 20-35 wt.% chromium (Cr), 4-8 wt.% molybdenum (Mo), <= 3 wt.% silicon (Si), 0.05-1.2 wt.% tantalum (Ta), niobium (Nb) and/or tungsten (W), with <= -0.5 wt.% each of Ta, Nb and/or W, <= 0.3 wt.% carbon (C), 0.05-0.4 wt.% nitrogen (N), <= 3 wt.% iron (Fe), <= 3 wt.% manganese (Mn), 1 wt.% of any impurities, and the rest cobalt (Co).
