The system has a drive chain (21) moving along a drive path, and a drive unit (31) provided on a vehicle (11), where the drive unit has a sprocket (112) engaging in the drive chain in a form-fitting manner. A brake device (111) acts on the sprocket, and is designed as an eddy-current brake and as a direct current motor, where the brake device is regulatable with respect to its brake moment between an idle brake moment and a full brake moment.
