An elevator of a high building and methods for constructing and operating the same are provided to improve transfer efficiency of a plurality of elevator cages operating in the same elevator by including distance measuring devices on the elevator cages. A method for constructing a plurality of elevators inside the same elevator shaft of a high building includes the steps of: building main elevator boarding lobbies on a plurality of floors(301); constructing the elevators as many as the elevator boarding lobbies built on the floors(302); programming an elevator operation schedule to operate the elevators(303); and operating the elevators according to the programmed operation schedule(304).
