An expansion joint of a concrete structure and a construction method thereof are provided to prevent deformation of blocking plates by disposing expandable member between the blocking plates. An expansion joint of a concrete structure comprises first and second blocking plates(1,2), a cavity(3), expandable rubbers(4), joint flanges(10), a waterproof member(R), and expandable members(3a). The first and second blocking plates have the same shape and separate from each other in parallel. The cavity is formed between the first and second blocking plates. The expandable rubbers are installed at the two ends of the first and second blocking plates. The joint flanges are formed at upper and lower parts of the first and second blocking plates and provided with wedge grooves(11). The waterproof members are fit to the wedge grooves of the joint flange. The expandable member is installed in the cavity between the first and second blocking plates.
