<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method capable of appropriately managing the degree of consumption of consumables used in image formation. <P>SOLUTION: A control part 20 writes flag information in a storage part 28 comprising nonvolatile rewritable memories upon receipt of an image formation request, and deletes the flag information written in the storage part 28 when the image formation process corresponding to the image formation request is completed. A toner consumption management part 29 manages the toner consumption based on the image formation request and the flag information. It is possible to determine whether or not the update of the toner consumption has been made normally based on the flag information.
