<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which the version adjustment of firmware with a printer driver preparing a print job is properly performed and to provide a software management method. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus 10, when the print job is sent from the printer driver 30, a firm comparison section 12 obtains an expected firmware version corresponding to the printer driver 30 by which the print job added to the print job is prepared from the print job and compares the obtained expected firmware version with the version of the firmware during operation which is stored in a firmware storage section 14. When as the comparison result, the fact that the expected firmware version is newer than the version of the firmware during operation is obtained, a firm obtaining section 15 obtains the firmware of a new version via web and a program update section 13 updates the firmware of the firmware storage section 14. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
