In an ISDB-T transmission type broadcast system, a transmitter (10) is equipped with a TS re-multiplexing unit (21) that multiplexes TS, a dummy frame generation unit (23) that inserts dummy frames into a TS, and an OFDM frame generation unit (22) that generates an OFDM transmission signal by performing processing, including time interleaving, on the multiplexed TS. The OFDM transmission signal includes a dummy OFDM frame solely comprising dummy frames. The receiver (30) is equipped with a receiving unit (31) that receives OFDM transmission signals and a channel search unit (34) that determines a channel to be selectively received on the basis of the electric field intensity of reception channels. When a dummy OFDM frame is detected by the receiver (30), the channel search unit (34) measures the electric field intensity of candidate channels in adjacent broadcast areas, and in a case where a candidate channel that exceeds a receivable threshold is detected, that candidate channel is selected. |
