The present invention provides a method and apparatus for acquiring service error information based on a management information model. The method comprises: sending a service configuration request message for a service to a management information model channel; receiving an answer failure message carrying a first error prompt code and returned by the management information model channel; parsing, according to a pre-set mapping relationship between the error prompt code and a return code statement of the service, the first error prompt code to obtain a corresponding first return code statement, wherein the error prompt code at least comprises: a target identification number and a channel error value, and the return code statement is set to indicate error information about the service; and providing the first return code statement to a user. An error prompt code of a service configuration error portion is found out by using a management information model channel, and a corresponding return code statement is acquired and provided to a user according to a mapping relationship between the error prompt code and the return code statement, thereby improving the usability of communication devices, and being better user-oriented. |
