IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the use of a recording medium when a γ conversion table as a density correction parameter is generated.

SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 includes: a reflectivity measuring section 16 for measuring reflectivity from a density pattern formed in an intermediate transfer belt; a density measuring section 15 for measuring density from a density pattern formed in a density pattern formed in output paper; a reflectivity density conversion table generating section 17 for generating a conversion table showing a relation between the reflectivity and the density, which are measured in the respective measuring sections 15 and 16; determining means for determining whether the existing reflectivity density conversion table generated in the generating section 17 is to be used or not; and a density correction parameter generating section 18 for generating the γ conversion table for realizing a prescribed density characteristic on the basis of a measurement result of the reflectivity measured by the first measuring means from the density pattern formed in the intermediate transfer belt at that time and the existing reflectivity density conversion table when the determining means determines the use of the existing conversion table.
