PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structural design method for a building from shape data of a building capable of selecting adequate materials required indicating the adequate structural data. SOLUTION: Shape data for the building are input, short-term and long-term stresses (S540) are calculated from loads applied to the components of the building, the side having larger values of short term and long term is selected out of larger values of the short-term and long-term stresses (S570) and the results are indicated on the drawings of the building (S580). Because of this, only the structural data required for selecting adequate material can be indicated.
