PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical retrieval basket without substantially projecting distal end basket base end or basket tip end . SOLUTION: This basket 10 is equipped with a sheath 12 with a proximal end and a distal end and has a handle 8 positioned at the proximal end of the sheath 12. The basket 10 allows the capture of material from a body and has a collapsed position wherein the basket 10 is surrounded in the sheath 12 and an extended position wherein the basket 10 is extended from the distal end of the sheath 12.
