PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protection device capable of improving judging precision about whether a vehicle rolls over or not and preventing malfunction of an occupant protector. SOLUTION: This occupant protection device 1 is furnished with a rolling angular velocity sensor (rolling angular velocity detection means) 10 to detect rolling angular velocity when the vehicle rolls over, a traverse G sensor 11 to detect acceleration in the left and right direction of the vehicle, a rolling judging module (rolling judging means) 13 to carry out rolling judgement of the vehicle in accordance with a rolling angle detected by the rolling angular velocity sensor 10, the rolling angle found from this rolling angular velocity and the acceleration in the left and right direction detected by the traverse G sensor 11, and the occupant protector 2 to protect an occupant by working in accordance with a judged result of this rolling judging module 13. An output phase of the rolling angular velocity sensor 10 and an output phase of the traverse G sensor 11 are devised to be opposite to each other. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
