PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method, for manufacturing a lithographic printing plate support, which can produce an original lithographic printing plate with excellent smear resistance and resistance to plate wear, using alternating current electrolysis in an aqueous solution containing hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid. SOLUTION: In this method for manufacturing the lithographic printing plate support, at least, a first electrochemical surface roughening process using alternating current in an aqueous solution containing the hydrochloric acid and the sulfuric acid, a second electrochemical surface roughening process using the alternating current in the aqueous solution containing the sulfuric acid and a third electrochemical surface roughening process using the alternating current in the aqueous solution containing the hydrochloric acid, are performed to an aluminum plate in that order.
