PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a twin head type recording apparatus capable of keeping a high through-put by suppressing increase in temperature of a recording head, and a recording method. SOLUTION: Respective temperatures of a plurality of recording heads are compared with a specified threshold value. Based on the result of the comparison, recording data are distributed to a plurality of the recording heads while the ratio of the recording data used for performing the recording to the same recording region of a recording medium by scanning a carriage, for example, recording data transmitting rates of a plurality of complemental masks corresponding to a plurality of the recording heads are changed.
