A trim panel assembly 30 includes a first trim panel 31 and a second trim panel 32. The trim panels 31 and 32 have respective attachment portions 31a and 32a, which cooperate with each other to connect the trim panels 31, 32 together and which allow relatively sliding movement between the panels. The first trim panel 31 can have a single attachment portion 31a that extends continuously throughout the length thereof, while the second trim panel 32 can have a plurality of discrete portions 32a that extend along the length thereof, or vice versa. The assembly is formed by disposing the first trim panel 31 inside a mould die 40, with the attachment portion 31a inside the mould cavity (43) (figure 4 - not shown). A moulding material 32 is injected into the cavity (43) to extend about the portion 31a. When the material 32 is sufficiently hardened for stability, the assembly 30 is moved to a cooling device (50) (figure 7 - not shown). The attachment portion 32a of the second trim panel 32 can be molded either about or within the attachment portion 31a of the first trim panel 31. |
