PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To preliminarily confirm the propriety and impropriety of a backing- out start position by providing an image composing means for superimposing the parking allowable range demarcated by either one closer side of lateral sides of a parking required space including a tolerance space required for the lateral sides of a vehicle. SOLUTION: This parking support device comprises an image pickup device set on a vehicle to read the outside information, a control device for processing the image taken by the image pickup device, and a monitor for displaying the image processed by the control device. The control device is provided with an input device for inputting the information for selecting the forward and backward advance of the vehicle, and the reachable range in the backing of the vehicle is displayed on the monitor image having the parking space projected thereon. Accordingly, selection of the initial vehicle stop position that is the most difficult in parking operation can be effectively supported by the comparison of the parking space on the taken image with the composed and displayed reachable range. |
