PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain as much useful image data as possible in imaging techniques based on the exposure of the patient while minimizing or reducing the patient's exposure to X-rays to the extent feasible.
SOLUTION: Approaches for acquiring computed tomography (CT) image data corresponding to a full scan, but at a reduced dose are disclosed. In one implementation, X-ray tube current modulation is employed to reduce the effective dose. In other implementations, acquisition of sparse views, z-collimation, and two-rotation acquisition protocols can be employed to achieve a reduced dose relative to a full-scan acquisition protocol.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
