PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and inexpensively detect the position of a user. SOLUTION: Applications and uses for using geographic codes of network access points includes: a method of generating a geographic code and an associated graphic user interface; a method for rejecting or filtering out geographic codes of inaccurately labeled access points; a method of using geographic codes as one part of network service discovery; a method of using geographic codes as one part of resource discovery and display; a method of using geographic codes for asset management; a method of using geographic codes of file transfer and an associated user interface; a method of using geographic codes for location tracking; a method for using geographic codes as one part of a domain name registry; and a method of transmitting geographic codes automatically.
