PURPOSE: A gas dynamic foil bearing is provided to reduce displacement of a thrust disk or a shaft in initial motion, to strengthen the stiffness of a bearing and to be used conveniently. CONSTITUTION: A gas dynamic foil bearing comprises a plate(13) attached on a base(10) and formed by etching or plate displacement and an elastic foil(15) having its one end fixed on a support member(14) of the plate. The combination of the plate with the support member or of the elastic foil with the support member is performed at a point out of a bearing motion area defined between inner and outer radius of the elastic foil. Between the elastic foil and the plate where the elastic foil is overlaid, an arc type curvature spring(17) having stiffness stronger than the elastic foil is interposed to support the elastic spring. |
