<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxidation catalyst which can be suitably used for selectively oxidizing a secondary hydroxyl group of polyhydric alcohol such as benzyl alcohol having primary and secondary hydroxyl groups without using heavy metal. <P>SOLUTION: As an active ingredient, the oxidation catalyst contains an N-oxyl compound indicated by the following formula (I) (wherein, R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>independently indicate a saturated or unsaturated 1-20C hydrocarbon group that may include a substituent group, a 6-20C aryl group that may include a substituent group, a 2-20C dialkylamino group that may include a substituent group or a halogen atom, respectively and R<SP POS="POST">3</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">4</SP>independently indicate an electron attractive group). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
