A system and a method for providing preview contents securely are provided to enable a user to access/use the preview contents easily by requesting any login procedure to the user, and prevent illegal distribution/use of the preview contents by encoding the preview contents with a NONCE(Number ONCE), which is changed in every preview contents request. A renderer(130) operates/controls a security module of a client device(150) by responding to a preview contents request of a user, and downloads/plays the preview contents by requesting the preview contents to a download server(250). The client device generates a NONCE according to a request of the renderer and decodes the encoded preview contents. The download server transmits the received preview contents request to a packager(270) and downloads the encoded preview contents received from the packager to the renderer. The packager extracts and encodes the preview contents by extracting the NONCE from a request message of the download server, generating an encoding key based on the extracted NONCE, and encoding the preview contents with the generated encoding key. A time server(230) provides synchronized time information to the renderer. A presentation sever(210) provides a browser(110) of terminal device(100) with list information as to contents which are supposed to be provided to a user.
