PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve insertion properties to a pipe for inserting an oil level gauge by eliminating directivity in flexibility and enhancing flexibility and rigidity in a gauge section. SOLUTION: The gauge section 11 is composed of a coil where a flat board made of a spring material, or the like is coiled, where the long side of the section of the flat board for forming the coil is made in parallel with the axial direction of the coil. An axis center 12 made of a spring material, or the like is arranged at the inner hollow section of the gauge section 11. The left ends of the gauge section 11 and the axis center 12 are connected to a grip section 13, and the right ends of the gauge section 11 and the axis center 12 are connected to an oil quantity checking section 14. By composing the gauge section of the oil level gauge with a coil, flexibility is increased in every direction and flexural rigidity required for a dead weight is also ensured, thus easily inserting the oil level gauge into the pipe for inserting the oil level gauge in two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes.
