<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle apparatus for enabling a light reception part to preferably receive an optical signal, even when full-duplex both-way communication simultaneously performing transmission of the optical signal by a light emission part and reception of the optical signal by the light reception part is performed. <P>SOLUTION: An on-vehicle apparatus 10 of the present invention comprises: a light emission part 11 for transmitting uplink light UO to an optical beacon 1; a light reception part 12 for receiving downlink light DO transmitted from the optical beacon 1; a housing 13 which accommodates the light emission part 11 and the light reception part 12 and is long in the vehicle width direction; and shield plates 18 and 19 which are installed in the housing 13 and block off the uplink light UO from the light emission part 11 so that the uplink light UO does not reach the light reception part 12.
