<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially advantageous method for producing purified 1,4-butanediol which can suppress the generation of tetrahydrofuran in crude 1,4-butanediol and also can reduce the concentration of 2-(4-hydroxybutoxy)-tetrahydrofuran. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing 1,4-butanediol comprises heating crude 1,4-butanediol containing 0.01-0.5 wt.% 2-(4-hydroxybutoxy)-tetrahydrofuran and 1-25 wt.% water in the presence of an amine to 80°C or higher to obtain purified 1,4-butanediol. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
