A method of manufacturing an ophthalmic lens using a first mold portion (4A) and a puck assembly (80). The puck assembly (80) comprises a carrier puck (40). The puck assembly (80) supports at least one of the first mold portion (4A) and the lens during at least two of the following ophthalmic lens manufacturing steps: assembling the first mold portion (4A) and a second mold portion (4B) into a mold assembly (2) including a lens-defining cavity (12) containing a lens precursor material; curing the lens precursor material in the mold assembly (2) to form a lens; separating the mold assembly (2) such that the lens remains attached to the first mold portion (4A); detaching the lens from the first mold portion (4A); extracting unwanted material from the lens; hydrating the lens; inspecting the lens, and packaging the lens.
