The plate (3) has an upper face (5) that is able to receive food to be cooked and a lower face (7) that is able to be placed on a cooktop such that the cooktop forms a source of energy for heating the food. The item of cookware (1) also has a wall (9) that extends substantially at the periphery of the plate (3) and is in the shape of channel (53). The wall (9) has a peripheral edge (55), at least one part of which is situated in a manner set back under the level of the upper face (5) when the item of cookware (1) is placed on the cooktop.
