PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of damage, in the end surface of a glass substrate for an annular magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: In this manufacturing method of the glass substrate for the annular magnetic recording medium, when a glass blank plate is worked into a glass substrate 11, the external form thereof is formed by a laser scribe and a chamfered surface is formed by spherical core polishing. Thereby, the glass substrate for the magnetic recording medium having no damage on flattened surfaces 14 and 17 and chamfered surfaces 15 and 18 can be obtained. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
