The invention relates to a method and a device for producing a fabric consisting of plastic strips, and to the fabric itself. Said method comprise s the following steps: a) a transversal web (1) comprising transversal plastic strips (1a) which are connected beneath each other by means of a plastic lay er (1b) is provided; b) pieces (1c) of the same length of the transversal web ( 1) are cut and transported to a assembly station (6), where the transversal pieces (1c) of web are introduced perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the transversal plastic strips thereof; c) a plurality of longitudinal plastic strips (8) are provided; d) the longitudinal plastic strips (8) are supplied parallel to the assembly station; and e) the longitudinal strips (8) are connected to supplied transversal strips (1c) of web at the assembly station (6) to form a fabric (11, 19), by introducing a plastic melt layer (10) between the longitudinal plastic strips (8) and the transversal pieces of web (1c) during the course thereof through the assembl y station (6), and the plastic melt layer is then cooled such that the longitudinal direction of the longitudinal plastic strips (8) extends at an angle to the longitudinal direction of the plastic strips of the transversal pieces (1c) of web.
