<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium, on which favorable recording and reproduction with laser having the wavelength of 300-900 nm is possible, and a new composition. <P>SOLUTION: This optical recording medium respectively comprises at least one kind of a recording coloring matter (B) for forming recording marks by absorbing laser beam and of a formazan compound (C) in a recording layer (called A) formable with a coating method.
