A method of allocating a mobile station unique number and method of configuring a public long code mask (PLCM) using the same ar disclosed, which are suitable for a normal operation between the mobile station and the system. The present invention includes the steps of re-allocating a manufacturer code of the mobile station unique number to a mobile station and transmitting to the mobile station re-allocation type (RECYCLED_TYPE) information indicating how many times the re-allocating step is carried out. Accordingly, the present invention enables allocation of additional ESN without collision with PLCM even if ESN is exhausted.
