PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suction tool for vacuum cleaner which keeps the rotating sound low on a flat floor surface, and which is excellent in dust removing performance as well, and in addition, can strongly remove dust even on a carpet. SOLUTION: This suction tool for vacuum cleaner has a rotary brush housing chamber (agitator housing chamber) 4 to which a rotary brush (agitator) 3 is freely rotatably attached. A rotation suppressing plate 21 is arranged in the rotary brush housing chamber 4. The rotation suppressing plate 21 is constituted in a manner to suppress the rotation of the rotary brush 3 by coming into contact with the rotary brush 3 when the vacuum pressure of the rotary brush housing chamber 4 is low, and not to suppress the rotation without coming into contact with the rotary brush 3 when the vacuum pressure of the rotary brush housing chamber 4 is high. On a wooden floor surface where the vacuum pressure of the rotary brush housing chamber 4 becomes low, the rotation number of the rotary brush is suppressed to reduce the rotating sound. Meanwhile, on the carpet where the vacuum pressure of the rotary brush housing chamber 4 becomes high, an excellent rotating force is demonstrated.
