PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power switchgear such as a switch unit or a circuit breaker, which can be operated in a high speed irrespective of a length of a power transmission member without increasing a driving energy of a driving source. SOLUTION: The power switchgear 100 is provided with an operation portion 12 for generating a driving force to drive in a turning-on or a shutdown direction a movable contact piece 6 arranged, touchable and detachable, to face a fixed contact piece 7, and power transmission mechanisms 4, 5, 8, 9, 11 for transmitting the driving force of the operation portion to the movable contact piece 6. There is also provided an auxiliary driving force generating means composed of a torsion bar 1 which gets an energy accumulation on a rotating lever 4 of the power transmission mechanism in the one state of either a turning-on or a shutdown of the movable contact piece and which releases the energy in the other state.
