PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately set an appropriate amplitude of AC current supplied to a charging member which charges an image holding body. SOLUTION: A charging control device 82 detects an inflection point. A conversion part 106 converts the inflection point to an inflection point which is detected by an inflection point detection part 104 when each of fluctuating values such as the temperature and humidity detected by a temperature and humidity sensor 67 is a predetermined reference value. A memory 76 stores a reference inflection point. A CPU 74 determines whether the frequency of conversion by the conversion part 106 reaches a predetermined frequency. A moving average calculation part 108 calculates a moving average of conversion results of the conversion part 106. The CPU 74 determines whether direction is made to print an image on a sheet. A correction inflection point calculation part 110 calculates a correction inflection point by using the results of the conversion part 106 or the moving average calculation part 108.
