Provided is a medical device configured so that the medical device can be inserted into an organism lumen and can cut an object within the organism lumen and so that blood is prevented from flowing into the device, thereby preventing the ease of operation from being impaired. A medical device (10) for cutting an object within an organism lumen has: a rotatable tubular drive shaft (60); a tubular outer sheath (80) capable of accommodating the drive shaft (60); struts (41) which are connected to the distal end side of the drive shaft (60), are rotatable, extend along a rotation axis, and are adapted so that the center portions thereof bend to enable the struts (41) to expand radially outward; a tubular rectilinearly movable shaft (70) which is disposed within the drive shaft (60), is axially movable relative to the drive shaft (60) in order to expand the struts (41), and can rotate with the drive shaft (60); and a liquid supply section (180) for supplying liquid to the gap between the outer sheath and the drive shaft (60). The drive shaft (60) and the rectilinearly movable shaft (70) have formed therein holes (61, 71) which extend from the inner surfaces of the shafts (60, 70) to the outer surfaces thereof. |
