PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lash adjuster without fear of forgetting releasing a whirl-stop of an adjust rod when it is incorporated in a valve gear and easy in management after it is incorporated in the valve gear. SOLUTION: In the lash adjuster 1 comprising a tubular case 14, an adjust rod 15 having a male thread 20 on the outer periphery screw-engaged to a female thread 21 on the inner periphery of the case 14, a bottom member 16 fixed at the lower end of the case 14, and a spring 17 energizing the adjust rod 15, an intermediate member 18 rotating integrally with the adjust rod 15 when the adjust rod 15 is screwed in to the case 14 is arranged between the adjust rod 15 and the bottom member 16, a set member 19 vertically movable between a position for whirl-stopping the intermediate member 18 and a position for releasing the whirl-stop is arranged, and the whirl-stop of the intermediate member 18 can be released by pressing-in operation of a section downwardly protruded from the bottom member 16 of the set member 19 to the bottom member 16.
