PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent poor combustion and suppress NO<SB>x</SB>by using high-temperature EGR gas when an engine is cold, and also to rapidly warm up the engine by heat exchange at a cooling device with the exhaust gas. SOLUTION: An exhaust gas recirculation device includes a cooled exhaust gas passage, a cooled exhaust gas cutoff valve for passing and cutting off the exhaust gas flowing through the cooled exhaust gas passage, and an exhaust gas cutoff valve for passing and cutting off the exhaust gas flowing through an exhaust passage. The exhaust gas is passed and cut off depending on the warming-up conditions of the engine, so that it is possible to prevent the poor combustion and also to suppress NO<SB>x</SB>to be discharged by using the high-temperature EGR gas when the engine is cold, and it is further possible to rapidly warm up the engine with the heat exchange by introducing the exhaust gas into the cooling device.
