1. An audio signal rendering method comprising:
receiving a multichannel signal to be converted into a plurality of output channels from a plurality of input channels; determining a rendering type for elevation sense rendering from characteristics of the multichannel signal; and rendering at least one overhead input channel, which is included in the plurality of input channels, according to the determined rendering type, so as to provide a sound image having a sense of elevation via the plurality of output channels.
