PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waste treating facility capable of treating a waste with a simple facility without using a large quantity of a raw material such as oxygen, a coke or the like, and also provided a method for treating. SOLUTION: The waste treating facility comprises a melting chamber 2, heating means 5, 6 for melting a metal charged in the chamber and heating the formed molten metal 22, a spare chamber 9 coupled directly to the upper part of the chamber and having a horizontal sectional area increasing toward upward, a gas inlet 15 provided in the lower part of the spare chamber to supply an oxygen-containing gas into the spare chamber in a horizontal direction, and waste charging means 41, 42 for charging the waste21 in the spare chamber. Thus, the waste charged in the spare chamber is thermally decomposed or burned during a period while the waste is fed to the melting chamber, its combustible content is gasified, and an incombustible content is slagged by the molten metal. The method for treating comprises the steps of blowing the oxygen-containing gas from the inlet 15, and thermally decomposing or burning the waste while circulating and retaining the waste in the spare chamber. |
