<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet medium drying device, capable of achieving restriction of heating power consumption while heating and drying a sheet medium corresponding to high speed operation of an image forming device, and increasing structural strength of the sheet medium, and an image forming device provided with the sheet medium drying device. <P>SOLUTION: This sheet medium drying device is provided with a heat drying roller 1 incorporating a heater to get in contact with the surface of the sheet medium fed from a feed part to an image forming part to roll. Patterns of irregular lines or grids are formed on the surface of the heat drying roller 1.
