An LCD and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to prevent the light leakage, by forming movement preventing members to surround a region overlapping a column spacer so that the movement preventing members prevent the column spacer from being moved when the LCD is pressurized. A column spacer(280) is formed on a color filter substrate(230) to maintain a cell gap. A thin film transistor substrate(30) is distanced from the color filter substrate at a predetermined interval. Movement preventing members(160,170) are formed within the thin film transistor substrate, wherein the movement preventing members are disposed to surround an overlapping region of the column spacer. The movement preventing members have heights higher than the overlapping region of the column spacer.
