PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carbonize waste wood material into a reusable carbonized material having high quality. SOLUTION: This method for carbonizing the waste wood material comprises putting-in the waste wood material (e.g. tie, etc.) in a closed reaction vessel, elevating atmospheric temperature to a prescribed temperature (e.g. approximately 400 to 500°C) by supplying heated steam into the reaction vessel, to remove additives (e.g. coal tar, preservatives) from the waste wood material by evaporation and also carbonize the waste wood material. Preferably, the above evaporation and carbonization are performed in the inside of the heating vessel being held at a pressure higher than the outside pressure. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
