The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for image processing using a histogram, which can perform an equalization process only for a remaining part of an image excluding a defect of an inspection target and a detection target, such as a human, a vehicle or the like, included in the image. A method for image processing using a histogram according to an embodiment of the present invention may comprise the steps of: generating a histogram by using pixels included in an image; extracting candidate pixels, corresponding to intensity of a detection target which is a target to be detected in the image, from the histogram; calculating variance indicating the degree of variance of the candidate pixels by using coordinates of the candidate pixels on the image; identifying preservation target pixels among the candidate pixels by using the variance; and performing an equalization process for pixels excluding the preservation target pixels among the pixels included in the image. |
